The Most Underrated Benefit of Ramadan
Use Ramadan to strengthen your tazkiyah journey.
﷽
We often talk about the blessings of Ramadan—fasting, increased worship, the mercy of Allah ﷻ—but one of its most overlooked benefits is the clarity it brings.
The doors of Jannah are open, and the shayateen are locked away. This isn’t just a symbolic victory; it’s a real opportunity for growth.
For one month, you get to experience yourself without the constant whispers of shaytan.
The thoughts you have? They’re yours.
The inner voices you hear? Yours.
The distractions, the desires, the impulses? All yours.
And that realization gives you an incredible advantage.
Of course, external influences like family, friends, and social media remain, but those are visible. With a little reflection, you can trace where each thought or feeling originates.
So this Ramadan, I encourage you to become an observer of yourself. Pay close attention to your thoughts, actions, and reactions.
Ask yourself:
What distracts you during salah?
When it’s quiet or you’re bored, where does your mind wander?
What assumptions do you make about people?
This self-examination becomes a direct map to your heart’s attachments and desires. And when you understand those, tazkiyah (self-purification) becomes much easier.
Then, when Ramadan ends and the shayateen return, you won’t be easily deceived. You’ll recognize the waswasa for what it is—an intrusion, not a reflection of who you are.
Use this month wisely.
Make it the foundation for lasting clarity and self-development.
🤲🏾 I pray this Ramadan will be the best one yet. Ameen.
Assalamu alaikum, until next time, in sha Allah
